Esports

students competing in esports competition.

Competitive esports is more than entertainment. It develops teamwork, communication, leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving while giving students another opportunity to represent Holy Family in competition.

Students practice and compete in Holy Family's dedicated esports arena, equipped with high-performance gaming stations designed for organized competition. Whether students are experienced competitors or just getting started, they become part of a welcoming team that values growth, sportsmanship, and collaboration.

Competing at a Championship Level

Holy Family competes in both the PlayVS League and the Minnesota Varsity League (MNVL), facing schools from across the state and nation in organized interscholastic competition.

Our program has quickly established itself as one of Minnesota's premier high school esports programs, including:

  • 2026 Mario Kart 2v2 State Champions (MNVL)
  • Six teams qualified for the 2026 MNVL State Tournament
  • Multiple PlayVS league championships and runner-up finishes
  • Top-four state finish in Super Smash Bros.
  • Top-eight state finish in Chess

As esports continues to grow, Holy Family students have the opportunity to compete at a high level while developing skills that extend far beyond gaming.

Opportunities Beyond High School

Esports has become one of the fastest-growing collegiate activities in the country. Today, more than 280 colleges and universities compete through the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE), and colleges collectively offer more than $50 million in esports scholarships.

For students interested in pursuing esports after graduation, Holy Family provides a competitive environment where they can build their skills, represent their school, and prepare for opportunities at the collegiate level.
