Instrumental Music
Instrumental musicians will find a state-of-the-art band room with acoustic panels and instrument lockers just outside the band classroom. Instrumentalists perform at three music concerts per year and have additional opportunities through jazz night, coffee house performance, and, in the case of the pep band, athletic events.
Concert Band – Members of Concert Band will have the opportunity to perform many different styles of literature including marches, ballads, medleys, new compositions for wind band, transcriptions, and classics from the band repertoire. Pep Band is a component of this class, with instrumental musicians playing at 9-10 events each year.
Jazz Band – Members of Jazz Band will perform a wide range of jazz styles including swing, funk, Latin, and ballad. Members are limited to alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones, trumpets, trombones, piano, guitar, bass, and drums.
String Ensemble – Members of String Ensemble will perform classic and popular repertoire for strings. The group includes all four members of the string family: violin, viola, cello, and bass.
World Drumming – Members of World Drumming will perform music from the traditions of Africa and Latin America.
