Holy Family Catholic hires Ian Parzyck to lead Fire football program.
Victoria, MN, May 12, 2021
Holy Family Catholic High School is pleased to announce Ian Parzyck as the school’s new head football coach.
Now in his 19th year at Holy Family, Coach Parzyck is a long-time Friday-night staple in Victoria, having served as an assistant coach on Fire football teams that appeared in seven section championships, and made four trips to state in 2008, 2010 (2nd Place), 2011, and 2012 (2nd Place). He helped establish Holy Family’s football program in 2002 and has coached every football player that ever suited up for the FIRE.
In addition to his role as the school’s strength and conditioning coordinator, he is the current head coach of Holy Family’s track and field program—a program with perennial state meet competitors. He was an assistant coach with the boys basketball program for ten years when the team won a state championship in 2007.
Parzyck fell in love with football at his first camp when he was ten years old. Since then, he has never left the game, playing on the offensive and defensive lines for Colfax High School, Colfax, WI, and center for the University of Wisconsin- River Falls.
During his college football career, Parzyck played under WFCA Hall of Fame coach John O’Grady (now at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Whitewater’s current head coach Kevin Bullis, and Tom Journell, current head coach for Carleton College. His connections run through two of the best D3 conferences in the U.S., and relationships with scouts and coaches who reach out from D1 and D2 schools each season.
Parzyck is also a valued member of the Holy Family teaching faculty, where he has been teaching Biology since 2002. This spring, he combined his passion for teaching and sports to develop two May Term courses —”Women and Minorities in Sports” and “Fundamentals of Athletic Coaching.”
Holy Family Activities Director Nick Tibesar looks forward to continued momentum for Holy Family Catholic football. He says, “Coach Parzyck’s determination and passion for Fire Football are truly unmatched. His commitment to the growth and development of Holy Family students, both academically and athletically, has been an asset to our school for 19 years. We are looking forward to seeing his passion and leadership transition into his new role as our head football coach.”
Parzyck is excited to officially begin his work as our head coach on June 7 with summer conditioning programs and Holy Family’s summer football camp. He states, “I am proud, humbled, and ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work! My goal as a coach is to help our student-athletes develop into adults with strong character, integrity, and faith. Athletics is one of the tools we use to support that development. I hope to use the connections with 19 years of alumni football players to catapult Fire Football into an exciting new future.”
