Seussical the Musical Opens November 14

Seussical the Musical opens at Holy Family Catholic High School on November 14.

Holy Family Catholic High School’s Theater Programs is proud to open its 2024/25 season with Seussical^TM, written by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. Based on Dr. Seuss's works, the show is directed by Kevin C. K. Berg in the HFCHS Performance Center. Performances will take place Thursday, Nov. 14, Nov. 15, Saturday, Nov. 16, at 7 p.m., and Sunday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. 

Ahrens’ and Flaherty’s musical takes many of the timeless Seussian stories and turns them into a fantastical, musical extravaganza for all audiences. This magical piece tells a story of friendship, loyalty,  and the challenges one faces for their ideals. Ultimately, it asks the poignant question, “How far would you go for the ones you love?”

This production also marks a new direction for Holy Family Theater. HFCHS welcomes Kevin C. K. Berg as their new Theater Director. He brings experience as an assistant college professor, college and community theatre director, and acting instructor, which makes him a distinguished addition to Holy Family.

Berg has high hopes for this production in terms of collaboration, interaction, and its potential impact on the Carver County community. “Dr. Seuss has always given us the tools and imagination to approach very real challenges with whimsy and positivity. We need that positivity,  perhaps even more so given the political landscape with this election year,” he says. And when asked what he hopes the audience gains from this production, Berg states, “I hope that we can all find those sparks of play and weightless imagining that we lose as we grow older.”
