Knowledge Bowl Qualifies for State Once Again

Knowledge Bowl Qualifies for State Once Again

The Holy Family Knowledge Bowl Team Klaw secured Holy Family's fifth straight berth to the State Knowledge Bowl Meet!

Facing larger schools due to a divisional change, the team embraces the "David vs Goliath" narrative, representing their school proudly amidst formidable competitors from some of the state's biggest public school districts. Notably, Holy Family emerges as the highest-ranking Catholic school in the region.

With team members who bring previous state meet experience, like Sam Treat and Andrew Klawitter, Holy Family's team is poised to make a strong run at the state tournament. Andrew also was the highest scorer in our division during this fall's Quiz Bowl season, outscoring every other student in the league (including from teams from Wayzata, Eden Prairie and Minnetonka).

Metro Senior High Knowledge Bowl (SHKB) is a season of academic competitions where students in grades 9-12 answer questions about history, literature, mathematics, science, current events, and everything in between. Meets take place after school at high schools around the Twin Cities.

During a meet, teams of 5 students begin with the written round, where they work cooperatively to complete a multiple-choice test. Based on their team’s written round score, they’re placed into rooms where 3 teams of 4 students compete to answer questions read by a KB coach or volunteer.

Each school is guaranteed three meets during the Regular Season. The top 45 teams qualify to compete at Subregionals and/or Regionals. The top 5 teams from Regionals compete at the MN State KB Meet in April.

Congratulations and good luck to the team members Henry Lisko, Sam Treat, Caleb Masi, Andrew Klawitter, Kamea Bale, and their advisors, Mr. Walker and Ms. Hiestand.
