Holy Family Repeats as an AP® School Honor Roll

Holy Family Repeats as an AP® School Honor Roll

Holy Family Catholic High School has been named to the College Board’s AP® School Honor Roll with Silver distinction for the second consecutive year, a national recognition that honors schools whose Advanced Placement programs are expanding access, supporting student success, and strengthening college readiness.

The AP School Honor Roll highlights schools that foster a strong college-going culture while ensuring that students are prepared not only to enroll in rigorous coursework but also to succeed in it. Schools earn this recognition annually based on research-backed criteria that connect AP participation with positive college outcomes. Schools designated as "Silver" status or higher represent approximately the top 9–10% of AP-eligible schools nationally.

What the Silver Distinction Represents

To qualify for inclusion on the AP School Honor Roll, schools must meet benchmarks across three key areas using data from their most recent graduating class:

  • College Culture: At least 40% of graduates took one or more AP exams during high school.

  • College Credit: At least 25% of graduates earned a score of 3 or higher on an AP exam, demonstrating readiness for college-level work.

  • College Optimization: At least 2% of graduates took five or more AP exams, with at least one exam completed in ninth or tenth grade to encourage academic growth over multiple years.

To earn Silver-level distinction, Holy Family exceeded these baseline requirements by demonstrating even stronger student outcomes, including:

  • 55% of our students take at least one AP course

  • 48% or more of graduates earning a score of 3 or higher on at least one AP exam, an AP Gold Honor Roll Standard

  • 12% or more of graduates taking five or more AP exams, with early participation beginning in ninth or tenth grade, an AP Gold Honor Roll Standard

These benchmarks reflect a program that balances access, encouragement, and sustained academic challenge, ensuring that students are supported throughout their high school journey.

A Commitment to Academic Excellence and Student Support

Holy Family’s AP program offers students the opportunity to engage in college-level coursework across multiple subject areas, supported by dedicated teachers, intentional guidance, and a school culture that values growth and perseverance. AP courses challenge students to think critically, communicate effectively, and approach complex material with confidence—skills that serve them well in college and beyond.

This recognition affirms Holy Family’s commitment to providing meaningful academic opportunities while remaining attentive to the whole student—intellectually, spiritually, and personally.

Preparing Students for College and Beyond

Research from the College Board shows that students who participate in AP coursework and earn scores of 3 or higher are more likely to succeed in college and complete a degree. Beyond the potential to earn college credit or advanced placement, AP courses help students develop the habits of mind necessary for long-term academic success.

The AP School Honor Roll Silver distinction places Holy Family Catholic High School among a select group of schools nationwide that are successfully expanding access to rigorous coursework while ensuring students are prepared to meet the challenge.
