Fr. Aric Aamodt Named Holy Family Chaplain

Fr. Aric Aamodt Named Holy Family Chaplain

Last week, Archbishop Bernard Hebda announced the official appointment of Father Aric Aamodt as Holy Family’s school chaplain effective July 1, 2024, and shall continue ad nutum episcopi. President Brennan shared this announcement message with out community.

Dear members of the Holy Family community,

As we enter these final weeks of the school year, I am pleased to share news regarding the assignment of our next full-time school chaplain. Archbishop Bernard Hebda has notified me of the appointment of Father Aric Aamodt as Holy Family’s school chaplain effective July 1, 2024, which shall continue ad nutum episcopi. I am excited to welcome Fr. Aamodt to our school community.

Fr. Aamodt (pronounced AH-met) graduated from Mounds View High School and attended the University of Minnesota–Duluth as a pre-med major. He transferred to St. John Vianney College Seminary at the University of St. Thomas during his sophomore year. After completing his bachelor’s degrees in philosophy and Catholic Studies at the University of St. Thomas, he attended the Saint Paul Seminary and was ordained a priest in May 2018. A story published by the Catholic Spirit recounts Fr. Aric's journey to the priesthood.

Since his ordination, Fr. Aric has been an associate pastor at All Saints Catholic Church & School in Lakeville and St. Hubert Catholic Church in Chanhassen. Along with the sacramental duties of a school chaplain, he will join our theology department as a classroom teacher beginning in the fall.

I want to thank our local parish priests for their assistance in offering weekly chapel Masses and presiding at our all-school Masses as we awaited a permanent chaplain assignment. In addition, thank you to Deacon Hjalmar Gudjonsson, who stepped in to teach theology courses and offer daily Word and Communion services. Deacon Hjalmar will finish out the school year with us. We wish God’s blessings on his ordination to the priesthood in May and his subsequent assignment.

Furthermore, we extend our most profound appreciation to Archbishop Hebda for his steadfast dedication and unwavering support of our school. We are blessed by his leadership of our archdiocese.

I hope you will join me in welcoming Fr. Aric Aamodt to our Holy Family community. Please watch for more information regarding an opportunity to meet Fr. Aric this summer. I look forward to the blessings his ministry will bring to our school.

Live Jesus in our hearts,

Mike Brennan

President
