Anthony Tucker Hired as New Head Girls Basketball Coach

Tucker was a standout player at Minnetonka, leading the Skippers to a State Championship and a top-10 national ranking during his senior year in 2008. That season, he was named the Star Tribune Metro Player of the Year and graduated as the school’s all-time leading scorer. He went on to play Division I basketball for the Iowa Hawkeyes before finishing his college career at Minnesota State University – Moorhead, where he earned All-Conference and All-Region honors.

Following his collegiate career, Tucker played professionally for 11 years in nine countries. His impressive résumé includes four finals appearances, one MVP award, a scoring title, three assist titles, and a stint in the NBA G League with the Windy City Bulls.

His coaching career is just as dynamic. He has experience at multiple levels, including AAU, high school varsity, and international professional coaching. Most recently, he served as the Head Coach of the Taichung Suns in Taiwan’s T1 League. Holy Family fans may also recognize him from the 2022-2023 season, when he coached alongside Joe Burger during the Fire’s state tournament run.

"Coach Tucker’s experience, knowledge of the game, and passion for player development make him a tremendous addition to our program,” said Rory Oster, Holy Family’s activities director. “We are excited for the leadership and mentorship he will bring to our student-athletes.”

Tucker is eager to step into his new role. He says, “I am honored to join the Holy Family community and lead the girls' basketball program. My mission as a coach is to develop skilled athletes and confident, disciplined young women who excel both on and off the court.”

Coach Tucker will hold a meeting with his players in the early spring.
