What is the Hall of Fame?
The Holy Family Booster Club, in partnership with Holy Family Catholic High School, established the Holy Family Hall of Fame in 2025 to honor the outstanding achievements and lasting contributions of individuals and teams who have left indelible marks on the school’s rich history of athletic excellence. This initiative celebrates the remarkable accomplishments of student-athletes and coaches who exemplify the spirit, values, and dedication of the Holy Family community.
Inductees are nominated by members of the community and selected by the Hall of Fame committee. The committee will ask our community for nominations every three years. Each Hall of Fame honoree will be recognized at a banquet during Homecoming Week and halftime of the Homecoming football game.

Bria Wetsch '06

Bria Wetsch is one of Minnesota’s most accomplished high school distance runners. While at Holy Family, she won multiple state championships and emerged as a nationally ranked competitor. Her athletic success earned her a scholarship to the University of Oregon, where she competed as an NCAA Division I All-American and contributed to the Ducks’ national success in women’s distance running.
Since college, Bria has pursued a professional running career, competing with elite training groups and qualifying for the U.S. Olympic Trials three times, where she raced among the nation’s top distance runners. Her journey as an elite athlete continues to inspire, reminding young runners what is possible through dedication, discipline, and a passion for the sport.

Peter Westerhaus '11

A dynamic student-athlete, Peter Westerhaus earned the title of Mr. Minnesota Football in 2010 and helped lead the Fire to standout seasons including the 2010 Class 3A Prep Bowl Championship game. He continued his football career at the University of Minnesota, where he played linebacker for the Golden Gophers before being forced to retire due to complications from ulcerative colitis.
In the face of significant health challenges, Peter turned adversity into purpose when he founded Achieving Cures Together, a nonprofit dedicated to restoring human health by rebalancing the gut microbiome. The foundation supports cutting-edge research and treatment efforts in collaboration with leading institutions. Through his work with Achieving Cures Together and his inspiring public testimony of faith, Peter continues to impact lives far beyond the football field. This June, he assumed the role of CEO of Survey & Ballot Systems.

Coach Matt Thuli

Coach Matt Thuli has played a foundational role in shaping Holy Family athletics since the school’s earliest years. In addition to his years as a winning coach, Coach Thuli was our school’s first athletic director. Known for his commitment to building strong, competitive programs and mentoring student-athletes, he has impacted generations of Fire athletes through his leadership, integrity, and deep belief in the values of Holy Family Catholic High School.
His influence extends far beyond the scoreboard, grounded in the relationships and character development he fosters with every team and student he coaches. Among the many highlights of his Holy Family coaching career are 300 career wins, a 2014 MSHSL Class AAA State Third place, and a 2007 MSHSL Class A Boys Basketball State Title.

“These three individuals embody the spirit of Holy Family, whether through competition, leadership, or service, Peter, Bria, and Coach Thuli have elevated our community and inspired others to do the same. It’s a true honor to induct them as our inaugural Hall of Fame class.”
