At Holy Family, preparation for college begins as early as your ninth grade year with the help of your counselor. Each year, these steps and resources will help keep you on track to find the best fit for your future.

Acclimate to the academic demands of high school, engage in Holy Family's social community, and
get involved

Meet with your assigned school counselor in the fall.
Encourage your parents/guardians to attend Beginning the Journey Night on
Wednesday, November 15 at 6:00 p.m.
Take the Pre-ACT 8/9 at Holy Family in the fall.
Learn about yourself using your
MAIA Learning
account.
Get to know your teachers and counselor - ask for help when you need it.
Develop strong work habits and independence.
Grade 10
Continue engagement at Holy Family, consider joining additional
clubs and activities

Take the Pre-ACT 10 at Holy Family in the fall.
Attend College Planning Night with your parents/guardians on
Wednesday, December 6 at 6:00 p.m.
Learn about career values and interests using your
MAIA Learning
account.
Start building your resume.
Keep positive momentum by earning good grades in all classes.
Plan for an active summer.
Grade 11
Consider leadership opportunities within the Holy Family community.
Take the PSAT at Holy Family in the fall.
Begin the college search process and visit campuses.
Attend college rep. visits in the counseling office throughout the fall (find the schedule in your MAIA Learning account).
Attend College Planning Night with your parents/guardians on

Participate in Junior Meeting with your counselor.

Revisit college campuses as needed.
Apply for merit-based scholarships in the winter/spring.
Confirm your post-high school destination by May 1.
