Holy Family’s theater program provides opportunities for every student involved to participate as an actor, a stage or sound technician, or both! We produce a variety of productions in a dynamic and creative environment where students learn to take risks and communicate with honesty, clarity, and zeal.
In December 2015, we celebrated the grand opening of our new performance center. This multi-purpose performance space will enhance our current drama program’s fall and spring productions. Thespians are also encouraged to participate in our entry into the Minnesota State High School League’s One-Act Play competition. Minnesota high school drama programs compete at the subsection and section levels to earn a trip to the state competition held in February at St. Catherine University’s O’Shaughnessy Auditorium.
Graduates of Holy Family’s drama programs have continued in college drama programs as well as currently work in acting, directing, stage lighting and theater management.
Eric Olson, Theater Director
Music, acting, and being creative are what define me. From the time I was young, I had a desire to perform and share the arts with people. Playing the piano, guitar, singing, and songwriting transformed me into the person I am. This love for music spurred my excitement for performing and led me to have a passion for theater as well as film work.
With over 20 years of acting experience in theater and commercial work, I first obtained my Bachelors Degree in Communications with a minor in Film. During this time I had the privilege of teaching and directing my own theater program through the City of Golden Valley for the past 9 years.
This passion for teaching and love for exploring the creative side of theater as well as all the creative outlets that English branches into, led me to complete my Masters Degree in English Education with an emphasis on Communications, Arts, and Literature at the University of Minnesota.
I am thrilled and humbled to be a part of Holy Family community and promise to bring my love for teaching, directing, and working with students every day!
