The fall sports season is in full swing and both the Boys and Girls Soccer Teams are off to a strong start. Each team is currently 1-0 in conference play and the chance for a successful season looks promising.
The boys team won their first conference game on Thursday night at home against Delano, 1-0. The only goal of the game was scored by sophomore Luke Pucklich.
The boys team this year will be led by captains Trey Cavello ’17, Josh Mohling ’17, Connor Fowler ’17, and Ian Dosedel ’17. Because the team graduated nine seniors from last year’s squad, the captains will need to work hard to get the younger players caught up to speed.
After talking with captain Trey Cavello, it seems as though the team is already very close. He said, “I’m looking forward to a fun season with a bunch of awesome guys. I’m also looking forward to continuing to grow as a team.”
The team is aiming high regarding expectations. Trey added, “Going to state is something every team wants to accomplish.”
The girls team also won their first conference game against Delano on Thursday by a score of 4-1. Samm Dalsin ’17, Reyana Schaffer ’21, Gracie Lund ’18, and Grace Murphy ’19 all contributed goals.
The girls team graduated only three seniors last year, making the transition into this season a bit easier. Stepping in to replace those graduates are Olivia Russo ’18 (junior), Grace Murphy (sophomore), Caitlin Rock ’20 (freshman), and Reyana Schaffer ’21 (8th grader).
Captain Samm Dalsin has a lot of confidence in the newcomers, saying, “These new players have all been really great additions to the team and should help us out a lot this year.”
Similar to the boys team, the girls also seems to be a very close group. “I’m just looking forward to all the fun we will have this year,” said Samm.
